~~ A POOR MAN'S LIFE ~~

Just an ordinary cotton dress
A missing button, hair a mess
Three little children, one on the way
Little bare feet outside at play
An unmade bed, an unswept floor
Bills unpaid and expecting more
Sleepless nights, dreading the day
Momma and daddy have nothing to say
Cries of hunger wanting more bread
Hiding her tears she turns her head
Daddy gets angry and slams the door
His angry face they will see no more
Just another day in a poor man's life
A poor man's kids and a poor man's wife
